Mentoring is defined by Webster as teaching or giving advice or guidance to someone, particularly to a less experienced person or a child who may need a discerning hand to help them navigate through life’s many challenges and uncertainties. During His ministry on earth, Jesus took the time and made the effort to mentor His disciples, nurturing their faith, understanding, and relationship with God. In fact, He explicitly stated that anyone who truly serves Him must follow Him closely, commit to His teachings, and imitate His ways (John 12:26). This profound relationship between mentor and mentee illustrates the importance of guidance in spiritual growth and personal development, highlighting how vital it is to have someone to lean on during difficult times.
In the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20), Jesus told His followers to "make disciples of all nations." Making disciples involves much more than simply giving people a set of rules or guidelines to follow; it includes living with them, understanding their needs, and helping them to grow in their relationship with Jesus. If you have the gift of discipleship and encouragement, and if you have experienced the reality of walking through the difficulties of life, consider joining our organization as a volunteer mentor. Mentors walk alongside their mentees for at least one hour a week over the course of a year, providing encouragement, support, and accountability that can truly make a difference.
Our mentorship program can be tailored to be a one-on-one relational experience, or it can involve group mentoring, where one person empowers another by investing their God-given wisdom and invaluable resources. As seasoned Christian men and women, we are instructed to mentor those who may need guidance, support, or a listening ear. We are seeking dedicated Christian men and women mentors who are willing to invest some of their precious time to help a man, woman, or child in need of support and encouragement. Would you consider volunteering as a mentor? To inquire about how you can get involved, please call 402-413-0138. Thank you for considering this important opportunity to make a meaningful impact in someone’s life!
