WATW WORKSHOP PRESENTERS

Jo-Ann, the founder and Executive Director of Lighting the Way, and also the Program Director for Women at the Well Thirst No More!, has overcome significant personal challenges. These challenges include domestic violence, divorce, abandonment, single parenting, the loss of her second husband, supporting her third husband through 19 years of substance abuse recovery, and her own fight against cancer, which she has survived. These experiences have greatly enhanced her empathy and understanding of the struggles involved in women overcoming life's obstacles.

Monica, as a young teenager, found herself navigating the complexities of motherhood. Despite her awareness of Christ’s existence, she was oblivious to His presence in her life during those challenging times. Through all her trials and tribulations, both as a young, single mother and later as an adult, she discovered that God had always been there.

Ashley’s journey has been one of profound transformation. From the depths of domestic violence, the challenges of her past profession as an exotic dancer, and a grueling 15-year battle with drug addiction and mental health struggles, she has emerged victorious. It was through her faith in the healing power of Jesus Christ that she found redemption. Today, Ashley is driven by a fervent desire to guide others towards the same love and salvation that reshaped her life.

Amy endured significant challenges from a young age, including sexual abuse at nine years old. This led to a series of hardships, including involvement in abusive relationships, substance abuse, incarceration, and participation in gang activities by the age of thirteen. However, Amy’s life took a positive turn in 2021 when she was joyfully reunited with her five children. She has since cultivated a deep and committed spiritual life, drawing strength from her faith in Jesus Christ. A passage that resonates deeply with her is Luke 15:4-7, which tells of the shepherd’s unwavering pursuit of a single lost sheep. “I was that one, He came to find!” says Amy.

Darian, who grew up in a Christian household, experienced a period of spiritual distance from ages 14 to 26. During this time, she was involved in distribution, exotic dancing, alcoholism, and drug addiction. Her struggles were compounded by severe anxiety. However, through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, she found redemption and salvation. Now, Darian is passionate about helping other women who feel lost and alone, emphasizing that God is the answer to their struggles. Her journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith and grace.

Through Jesus’ love and redeeming power, Karine has learned to see herself through God's eyes. She learned to appreciate and accept who she is. This newfound self-love has allowed her to extend forgiveness to both herself and others, releasing the burden of anger that once consumed her. Moreover, recognizing God's love has revealed her purpose in life—"I am not merely existing; I have a meaningful role to play," said Karine.
